Thermoplastics offer a number of advantages over metals, wood, and fibreglass/SMC including outstanding aesthetics, durability, and sound insulating properties.

Thermoplastics have the additional advantage of having colour throughout the thickness of the material, which eliminates the need for secondary painting. Unlike wood and metals, plastics are moisture resistant and they will not rot or rust.

SAPHIR® is the name of coated polycarbonate (PC) sheets
from Arla Plast. We select the highest quality raw materials
depending on the intended application. That is why we can
deliver exactly the quality level that will suit your demands
the best.

There are several SAPHIR® versions for instance to achieve
maximum surface hardness or to allow certain flexibility for
drape forming. To help you choose what quality best fits your
needs, we divide our SAPHIR® products in three main
application areas: General purpose, Security and
Lamination. 

General Purpose

SAPHIR® offers full view during operation of an industrial machine. At the same time the operator is protected from being injured. Other aplications offer protection against impact, wind and noise.

Security

Using SAPHIR® is an easy way to protect windows from being smashed. This is useful in environment where theft or vandalism is a problem. Crowd separation glazing with clear view is an example of sport arena applications.

Lamination

SAPHIR® is used in BRG – Bullet Resistant Glazing – where glass layers are laminated together with PC. Here a combination of optical clarity, optical distortion level and sheet elasticity properties are important.

SAPHIR® is our most popular coated product suitable for
applications with special dioptry demands.

SAPHIR® is homologated to ECE R43 safety glazing on
vehicles, and some types also to ECE R118 for use in buses
and vehicles with more than eight seats.

For applications only needing a scratch resistant surface
without high optical demands, we offer MAKROCLEAR
HARDCOAT.

We believe this was the best Arla Plast could take! 

Our solution to fulfil the increased demands for high-end Covid barriers (and other barriers and protection shielding) is our newly developed Saphir HCE. The Saphir HCE is a cost-efficient solution that is easy to clean, withstanding the chemical exposure from the most common cleaning agents and have a good resistance against abrasion and scratches. Saphir HCE has the same great mechanical and optical properties you can expect from all Arla Plast polycarbonate products.  

To have surface properties that fulfils the increased needs and demands on the Covid barriers and other protection shielding, we have during the last year developed a cost-efficient special surface coating with very good chemical resistance and very good resistant against abrasion and scratches. For indoor use as barrier and shielding applications, the new Saphir HCE will “do the job” for many years after installation. For applications where the demands are even higher and the material specifications tougher, we recommend to use our Saphir or our Makroclear Hardcoat. 

WHAT IS ATECH®?  

At Arla Plast, ATECH® is our range for ABS based products. ABS is a raw material with high impact strength and impressive thermal qualities. It is the ideal product for thermoforming and fabricating, which is why this material is one of the most popular amongst thermoformers. 

Recycling is an important part of the ABS business. And we can offer all possibilities in this field. Our total recycling concept will help you minimize the material cost and the environmental impact. ABS sheets are used in a wide variety of applications, like machine covers, automotive parts, ski boxes, tough industrial applications, advertising, building and construction and more. The new grain 25 is suitable for interior applications or applications, where a more technical design is desired.
